Ofsted

All Saints' was inspected by Ofsted on 5th March 2014. The full report can be found through the link below.

Please make sure you read the whole report as there are many positive statements in each section beyond the front page.

We are pleased to report that Inspectors identified a number of key strengths:

Pupils’ progress is improving and many are now making at least the progress that is expected for them in reading, writing and mathematics;

Attendance is above average and pupils say they enjoy school;

The leadership team has introduced changes that are bringing about rapid improvement;

The Executive Headteacher has taken firm action to raise the standards of teaching in the school;

Teaching is now much stronger and more teaching is good.

The Lead Inspector described many areas of the school as ‘Good’ during feedback at the end of the inspection. However, the inspection judgement has to take into account historical data (since the last inspection) and this has not yet improved enough for her to be able to judge the school as ‘Good’ under the current framework which came into being in January 2014.

Under this new Ofsted framework there are certain ‘limiting judgements’.  If ‘achievement’ is not judged to be ‘Good’ then other categories cannot now be judged to be ‘Good’ either. Therefore, despite our rapid improvement since federation and our clear capacity to improve, it is impossible for us to achieve higher than ‘Requires Improvement’ overall.

Senior leaders, staff and school governors were aware that this would be the outcome if they inspected the school during this year before the current year 6 take their SATs, which will show a continuing picture of improvement.

The senior leaders and governors were in agreement with the inspection findings and we recognise that the improvements made in the school need to become more consistent and sustained over a longer period of time. The Inspectors recognised the many changes that have been made since the federation and recognised how far the school has come in only 18 months.

The Inspectors recognised that the progress of children currently in school and since the federation is at least as expected and improving.

The areas to help improve the school further are already in our action plan and we will build on our key strengths to achieve a consistently good judgement when we are next inspected by Ofsted.

Quality of teaching has already improved since the federation and now needs to become more consistent. Staff have visited outstanding teachers in other schools and are developing their practice and also attended courses to develop their practice.

Marking is already a focus and the aim is for the marking to really enhance and extend the children’s progress, achieved through consistency of good practice across the school and monitoring by senior staff.

Parents can feel assured that we will continue to push on to achieve the standards that Ofsted judge to be ‘Good’. We know what this takes as we have the recent ‘Outstanding’ report at Emscote as a model to work with, senior leadership and governors being now shared across both schools.

We will continue to secure this rapid improvement but we are also very much reliant on you, our parent community, to work closely in partnership with us to embed these improvements and to establish a solid level of consistency. We are absolutely committed to making accelerated improvement and will regularly inform you of our progress towards being judged a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted.
